And Spygate Continues…

By: Tim Scott

Such a fitting time for Spygate to return to the front pages of the sports section’s around the nation. When we should be talking about the upcoming Super Bowl, all attention has been turned to the possibility of further cheating by one of sports best dynasties. What is the real reasoning behind releasing all of this information on spygate at this time? Maximize press? Get a little fame an some limelight?

To me this all seems a bit ridiculous for the fact that the Patriots are on their way to trying to have a perfect season and cap that with a Super Bowl win but its being overshadowed by “spygate”. The whole spying situation that has gone on in the Patriots organization is nothing but embarrassing and shouldn’t be condoned in any way. The Patriots have been punished for their crime and now its time to move on and let the Patriots prove on the field that they don’t need secret videos to win football games.

Now we have some ex-employee now golf boy running his mouth that he taped more spying games for the patriots during his seven years of employment. Am I supposed to believe whatever this guy has to say about his role in taping teams for the Patriots? To be quite honest with you I could care less if he did at this point. Tapes have been destroyed the coach and team have been penalized and its time to move on from this problem.

Senator Arlen Specter has thrown his two cents into the tape situation by wanting to know why everything has been destroyed in the spygate case. Well, it’s pretty noticeable that Roger Goodell wants to put this scare on the NFL in the past and stop all the talk about it. I’m sure that there were some other instances where the Patriots had taped other teams for their signals. But is it really helpful at this time to make the situation worse that it already is? We got half the story but the NFL and the Patriots now the whole truth and all the details of the video spying past. The Patriots most likely came clean to the commissioner about everything but since they where only caught by the Jets, well that’s probably the only game that we will get confirmation on.

This Sunday one of the biggest games for a team ever in football history will be played. If the Patriots win they will have had the best season ever for a team. If they lose the game will miss some luster to it but it still will be a game remembered for quite some time. Let’s not have Spygate stories ruin the real headline of this Super Bowl game. The media will continue to play this story out for as long as they can but I really hope that some of you feel the same way I do about Spygate. DROP IT! Let’s enjoy Sunday’s game for what it is and have fun with family and friends.
