Money Lines

The moneyline was created to take the place of a point spread and will deal in odds related just straight up betting. They are usually wagered when you think the favorite wont cover the spread but will win straight up or if the underdog is believed to win the game and the better wants to take the straight up win. Like the point spread, the moneyline is used to equal out the attractiveness of the favorite and the underdog for a typical bet.

Odds makers set the moneyline so that you must risk more money on the favorite and less money on the underdog to win a $100 dollar bet. For example, the New York Giants are favored over the Tennessee Titans. The Giants are listed on the moneyline as -145 meaning that for every $145 you place on the Giants to win you will get paid $100 dollars in return. The Titans on the other hand are the underdogs on the moneyline and are listed as +165 meaning that for ever $100 dollars you bet you will receive $165 in return. Your bet that you place on the moneyline will always be related to a bet of $100 dollars no matter how high or low the.
